Mars Single Malt Komagatake is made at the Shinshu Distillery, which was built in 1985 on the slopes of Mount Komagatake in the Central Alps of Nagano.

The whisky of Komagatake is known to be elegant, fruit-forward, and citrus-led, with a fresh, honeyed sweetness. The 2022 release was matured in a blend of casks that are predominantly ex-bourbon,  accented with ex-sherry and ex-port casks.

Tasting notes

NOSE: Fruity notes of apricot, banana, and ripe persimmon, with citrus peel at the end.

PALATE: Balanced fruit flavours of sweet and sour passion fruit and kiwi, with honey, hazelnut, and dried plum.

FINISH: Medium and drying, with wine tannins and lingering sweetness of ripe persimmons.
