This single cask release comes from the Speyside distillery of Glenrothes, which is part of the Edrington portfolio, alongside Macallan and Highland Park. This very precious 25-year-old single malt was drawn from a hogshead barrel that was filled in 1997, and is an expansively rich and savoury dram, leading to sweet butterscotch and spiced fruit. The cask yielded only 152 bottles.
Tasting notes
NOSE: Lemon toffee sweets. Sea-sprayed mint, Honey coated salted nuts. Bergamot candles.
PALATE: Spun-sugar tuille biscuit filled with rich red fruits, topped with chopped mint. With water, red and pink peppercorns, yoghurt coated red fruits and strawberry and cream sweets.
FINISH: Long, smooth and rewarding with a dissipating exotic wood spice note.
