A gorgeous single cask release from Craigellachie, which is known for its wormtub-cooled distillate that offers a distinctly rich and “meaty” character. This was drawn from an active hogshead cask that was filled in 2007, and 15 years later gave us a whisky that’s rich with treacle and caramel notes, and ends on an elegant finish. Only 320 bottles were made available worldwide.
Tasting notes
NOSE: A walk through soft leafy ground with a box of Ferrero Rocher, milk chocolate and praline with a rich malty undertone. Fresh ginger lends some spice to the aroma lifting the earthy notes and lingering.
PALATE: Prickly ginger with a drizzle of warm rum fudge and clotted cream are first to appear. Spicy before calming with vanilla and light fresh cut oat.
FINISH: It’s all about the vanilla now, creamy and smooth drifting on for what seems an eternity.
