Nomad begins its journey in the whisky heartland of Speyside, Scotland, only to continue maturing in Jerez, in the sherry casks of González Byass within their legendary cellars, to go beyond the rules.

For the first 6 years, the blended Scotch ages in bourbon barrels in Scotland, after which the liquid travels to Jerez where it remains for an additional year in old Pedro Ximénez casks.​ Nomad is the only Outland Whisky that completes its maturation in the unique microclimate of Jerez, experiencing the distinct temperature changes and winds of this region. The Angel’s Share in Jerez is 5% compared to 1.5% in its place of origin, Scotland.

This significant difference imparts Nomad with its unique personality and unparalleled rarity.​

Tasting notes

NOSE: Malt and hints of wood and sherry.

PALATE: Raisins, honey, and an unmistakable bouquet from its refinement in sherry casks that once held old Pedro Ximénez.

FINISH: Vanilla and dried fruits. A very elegant whisky with a deep aftertaste.

Nomad Outland Whisky is a collaborative blended whisky from renowned master distiller Richard Paterson and expert Sherry producers Gonzalez Byass. It is made with a selection of over 30 malt and grain whiskies, which are blended together and matured in Sherry butts in Scotland for three years.

Following that, the whisky is shipped off to Jerez, where it is finished in Pedro Ximénez casks for a year before it is bottled. Richard Paterson and Gonzalez Byass’ master distiller Antonio Flores experimented with different Sherry casks, including Oloroso and Fino, but ultimately decided on the Pedro Ximénez casks for this enticing expression.

This outland whisky matures in the unique micro-climate of Jerez, subject to the different changes in temperature, the winds and the humidity of the Andalusian city close to the sea.

Nomad, over time, will absorb the native yeasts which are present in the atmosphere of the cellar, and it will be imbued with the tastes and flavours of the old Pedro Ximenez casks, previously used to age sherry, giving the whisky its unique character.
