Batch 1 vs Batch 2 Comparison
Batch 1 (2025 Release):
Cask Maturation: Refill bourbon and refill Pinot Noir casks.
Profile Characteristics: Features a sweet nose with vanilla, toffee, apple purée, and musty grape, developing dirty, farmyard-like bonfire smoke. The palate is dry, sooty, and peppery, with intense wood smoke and stewed red fruits on the mid-palate.
Batch 2 (Late 2025 / 2026 Release):
Cask Maturation: Roughly 4 years in refill bourbon casks, followed by over 2.5 years in refill Rioja red wine casks (totalling around 7.5 years of maturity).
Profile Characteristics: Features prominent red wine influence right away, with a visibly redder tint. The nose brings redcurrants, vanilla, salami, and peppercorns alongside ash. The palate builds thick peat smoke with tobacco, leather, dark fruits, and clove spice from the Rioja influence.
Please note that core releases from Springbank and Glengyle distilleries – Springbank 10 and 15, Longrow Peated and Hazelburn 10yo – are shipped without its outer box. This is in accordance with the distillery’s effort to minimise its impact on the environment in light of the global climate emergency.
