The first release in Ledaig’s Sinclair Series, this non-aged statement Ledaig Rioja Finish is ruby red in colour and perfectly balances peat smoke with sweet, fruity Rioja. It is non-chill filtered and natural colour.
Over recent years, Ledaig has really stamped its mark as a superb peated whisky, and was recognised as the Whisky of The Year 2022 by Ralfy Mitchell, as well as one of the Icons of Whisky Scotland 2022: Scotch Islands (Non Islay) 12 Years & Under.
Tasting notes
COLOUR: Ruby red.
NOSE: Notes of Turkish delight and rose petals balanced with candied fruits and grapes followed by rich leather and a beautiful peppery spice. A hint of chocolate comes through at the back.
PALATE: Creamy mouthfeel packed full of almonds, barley and sweet malt with notes of peppery Ledaig, which give way to black raspberries, sweet vanilla and cocoa interspersed with cinnamon spice and hints of freshly cut grass.
FINISH: Lingering smoky finish with red fruit and sea spray.

At Tobermory Distillery they produce two distinct single malts made for half the year each: a non-peated Tobermory and a heavily peated (30 – 40ppm phenol) Ledaig. Each malt reflects the inspiring island – from the bright and colourful Tobermory with vibrant fruit, spice and a subtle salty notes, reflective of the harbour waters, to the more robust, peated Ledaig, with sweet smoke and earthy notes.
