Ledaig Ltd Ed Hebridean Moon 10 Year Old 58.8%

58.8% | 70cl | NCF | Scottish Isles (Isle of Mull) | Limited Edition | High/Cask Strength

Inspired by Mull’s Baliscate Stones, a symbol of renewal, this limited-edition single malt is crafted from Tobermory’s newest stills installed in 2014. Quietly matured for over a decade in hand-selected ex-bourbon casks, this limited edition release is Tobermory’s first ever 10 Year Old Ledaig Single Malt bottled at cask strength. Where the core 10 Year Old is a smoulder, Ledaig Hebridean Moon is a fire.

Ledaig fans WILL LOVE this one. It does need a bit of space to breathe when you first open the bottle, but all good things come to those who wait. Take the time to romance it, and you will be absolutely rewarded.

Tasting notes

NOSE: An earthy smoke fades to reveal soft vanilla, double cream and candied fruit with a gentle spice and touch of cracked black pepper.

PALATE: Packed full of citrus notes reminiscent of lemon drizzle cake, balanced with notes of fresh leather, tobacco and a hint of toasted oak.

FINISH: A warm medicinal smoke lingers with a gentle cinnamon spice.

At Tobermory Distillery they produce two distinct single malts made for half the year each: a non-peated Tobermory and a heavily peated (30 – 40ppm phenol) Ledaig. Each malt reflects the inspiring island – from the bright and colourful Tobermory with vibrant fruit, spice and a subtle salty notes, reflective of the harbour waters, to the more robust, peated Ledaig, with sweet smoke and earthy notes.

This distillery is highly prized for its very oily style, in part because of the short fat stills they have at the distillery. A much under-rated distillery.
