The name Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic, “Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain” which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown now stands. Glengyle now produces a range of Kilkerran Single Malt whiskies, all natural in colour and non-chill filtered. All Kilkerran whisky characterises typical Campbeltown drams; rich, complex and perfectly balanced.

There has been much anticipation for this latest release of Kilkerran 8 Year Old Cask Strength and the 2021 release, is truly exciting. The first fill oloroso has pushed this expression to hints of deliciously dirty notes. Overlay these dirty notes with the Campbeltown brine and gentle peat elements and we can already hear the hysteria from the Campbeltown lovers!!
NOSE: Well-balanced, rich and softly peated. Juicy and sticky with notes of maraschino cherries, vanilla fudge, toffee pudding and coffee beans. Jam and fruit, balanced with a light smoky aroma.
PALATE: Lovely dark fruit flavours continue with plum, cherry and sweet raspberry. Cooking apples, lemon glazing, a dusting of dark chocolate powder and a dry yet delicate peat smoke towards the end. A familiar coastal brine influence draws out the unique Campbeltown characteristics.
FINISH: Notes of sea salt, dark cacao, smouldering campfire, sandalwood, BBQ meat and dry peat smoke.
