Glencadam Reserve American Oak Bourbon Sherry Matured

40% |70cl | Glencadam | Highland

Glencadam American Oak Reserve has been specially created by Glencadam’s Master Distiller. He hand-selected the very finest bourbon barrels, made from American oak, in Kentucky, USA. These barrels were then shipped to Scotland, filled with new make Glencadam spirit, and carefully placed in Glencadam’s historic dunnage warehouses to be left to silently mature. After a number of years, their Master Distiller carefully selected the very best barrels to be bottled as Glencadam American Oak Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

NOSE: Aromas of sweet vanilla pod and buttercream mingled with orchard fruits, golden raisin and hints of Turkish delight.

PALATE: A wash of poached pear and apple blossom followed by acacia honey, roast chestnut, mocha and lemon rind.

FINISH: Sweet cooked fruits, white grapes and apple crumble fading into a peppery cake spice linger.

Glencadam first opened in 1825, in the ancient city of Brechin. This was the year that the first horse-drawn omnibuses were established in London, the world’s first modern railway opened, with the first public train pulled by steam engine, Cox’s Orange Pippin apples were first grown and London became the largest city in the world, over-taking Beijing. It was little more than one year after the Excise Act of 1823 legalised distilling.

Glencadam is now the only distillery in the county of Angus, an area of the Highlands region of Scotland. The first owner was a “Mr Cooper”, who sold the distillery in 1827. The name “Glencadam” comes from the area known as “The Tenements of Caldhame”.
