This limited edition Arran 10 year old single malt has been distilled using malted barley grown on the Isle of Arran, at Bellevue Farm by the Currie family.

This whisky has been matured in a selection of 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels and 2nd Fill Sherry Hogsheads in very similar proportions to the classic Arran 10 year-old. A new small batch of Arran Barley Edition will be released annually with variances depending on the crop type, cask types and volumes available.

NOSE: Fresh herbs, light citrus. Medium sweetness and vanilla. Aniseed.

PALATE: Spicy, ginger and biscuity. Oak forward with vanilla. Citrus notes and a complex oily viscosity amplify the fruit.

Arran whisky calls the village of Lochranza home and is really the perfect location for producing the perfect Single Malt. They insist it is all about the water.

Every drop of Arran Single Malt starts its life as rainwater which pools at Loch na Davie in the beautiful hills behind the distillery.  The clear water cascades down the hillside, through six unassuming waterfalls, each one purifying the water further. The name of the burn, Easan Biorach, means ‘Sharp Waterfalls’ in Gaelic. This pure water is then used to create a clean, sweet dram which is entirely natural and unadulterated.  No added caramel or chill filtred.  Most of their whiskies are bottled at 46% abv, which means that it stands up well to dilution and adding a little splash of water.

Arran enjoys a warm microclimate – the atmosphere of sea breezes and clear mountain air, together with the warm flow of the Gulf Stream is ideal for the speedy maturation of single malts. The island has a reputation for producing the highest quality whisky. Awards 2014
