Sabine Jaren and Francois Lurton, well known winemakers, came up with Sorgin. Starting from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The other botanicals that go into making this bewitching gin include grapefruit zest, violets, lemon, gorse, lime zest, redcurrant buds, and of course a distillate of juniper.
For the Sorgin Yellow, they take Sorgin Small Batch Sauvignon Gin and then age in freshly emptied Sauvignon Blanc casks for 6 months. This is where the gin takes it colour from. As they only use fresh casks, Sorgin Yellow can only be bottled once a year when Sauvignon Blanc casks are bottled.
The ageing brings some gorgeous tropical fruit notes over the sauvignon blanc aromas, adding notes of passionfruit, mango. Simply delicious neat or with a splash of the bubbles from tonic.
