This single malt from Glenallachie is part of Duncan Taylor’s Octave series, which has undergone a second maturation in sherry octave casks that are about 1/8th the size of a butt. The result is an ‘Octave Invigorated’ whisky that has an expanded flavour profile of a mature, well-balanced Scotch Whisky.
Glenallachie was built in 1967, and was primarily known for providing malt whisky for blending. Today, it is under the GlenAllachie Distillers Company, who are building its reputation for producing full-flavoured malt whisky through long fermentation times of 160 hours, resulting in a fruitier, and more muscular spirit quality.
Tasting notes: Leather, dried plums, tobacco, hint of mint with a complementing minerality.
