We couldnt be more pleased with the arrival of this new gin. Its not just an extension to the hugely successful Darnley's gin range, It is nothing like any of the other gins in the market.
It is distiled using smoked malted barley. Born out of experiments by the distiller, a local smoker was brought in to smoke the locally grown barley over pinewood chips. Other ingredients utilised include the very smoky Lapsang Souchong tea, coriander, rowanberry, zesty orange peel, angelica and of course juniper.
This limited and experimental gin has a malty depth, full of sweet citrus zest that develops a big smoky flavour. This release is limited to 2400 bottles worldwide.
Nose
Sweet berry notes combine with orange and lemon as the delicate pine scented smoke slowly reveals itself.
Palate
A strong citrus presence of orange and grapefruit, with a malty depth and a light beach bonfire smoke is delivered on top.
Finish
A long fruity complex finish with citrus at the fore and smoke slowly increasing in intensity
