This is a fascinatingly complex whisky bottled by Wemyss was distilled at Caol Ila in 2007. Aged tfor 15 years before being bottled at cask strength, the whisky has had enough time to develop and mature. There is warming concoction medicinal notes; lapsang souchong, spiced blackcurrant and liquorice.
Nose: Medicinal notes with liquorice and herbs lingering the background, tar soap, coal and alluring wood smoke.
Taste: Fresh & herbal. Rubbed peppermint leaves, stemmy, damp grass, smoky. Oily, cigar leaves and smoked ham.
Finish: Long, peppery, spicy warmth, smoke.
